The National Institute on Drug Abuse has created a graphic to show the national levels of drug use. The people at Teensavers thought it would be good to show parents who don’t regularly visit the NIDA site.

Remember, you can’t trust your eyes and nose to see if your teen is on drugs. By the time you can recognize the physical signs, addiction may already be in place.

Our growing pill problem is getting so out of hand, that a mother had to turn her own son into police.

This wasn’t a middle aged woman turning in her adult son for the crime.

Police say the alleged pill thief is only 13-years-old.

They say that the young boy took her anti-anxiety pills.

According to West Virginia’s Metro News, the boy was not home when authorities answered the woman’s call.

But a short time later a neighbor reported a break in and a burglary of pills.

Shortly after that burglary, the boy stumbled into the bushes.

The authorities say the boy was unable to run in a straight line because of the effects of the pills.

COULD YOUR TEEN BE ABUSING PRESCRIPTION DRUGS? DON’T GUESS! TEENSAVERS HOME DRUG TEST KITS WILL GIVE YOU ANSWERS AND PEACE OF MIND IN THREE MINUTES.

The boy is now facing charges in juvenile court.

West Virginia, like many other states, has been plagued by prescription drug abuse.

And as tough as it is for a mother to turn her son over to authorities, this may help the boy overcome his desire to use pills.

Parents cannot sit back and think that the pill problem in this country won’t take hold of their child.

More kids are trying prescription drugs because they are deemed “legal drugs.”

Teensavers family of home drug test kits can help detect the most popular illicit drugs.

We know it’s easy for people to score painkillers from doctors on the take, but a bust in Los Angeles county shows even a dog can score opiates.

Authorities say that undercover officers had routinely obtained painkillers from Dr. Rolando Atiga. But the last prescription he wrote was one for the birds.

An undercover officer asked about medication for pain that they were suffering. They even produced x-rays for Atiga to review. After pointing out bones and joints he offered up a prescription.

According to the LA Times, the doctor let the patient choose:

“Do you want to try Vicodin ES?” he asked. “Or do you want to try others? … Roxicodone? Or oxycodone? … Or whatever you want….Maybe some Valium or Xanax.”

Problem was, not only was the undercover officer lying about the pain, she was using xrays from the k9 officer, Recon.

The doctor now faces charges of improperly prescribing medications,

These pills can fetch big bucks on the streets. They are extremely addictive. This is a growing problem in our community.

People score pills, and turn around and sell them for a profit.

When the pills run dry, many times these addicts turn to heroin.

We’re seeing a surge in teen and young adult heroin addictions. There’s no question it starts with pill abuse.

Make sure you rid your home of all unwanted or unneeded medications. And pills should be properly disposed during a drug take back day.

Pills should not be flushed down the toilet. That only pollutes our water supply.

If you do have pills in the home, make sure they are accounted for, and locked up.   Make sure only adults have access to them.

Illinois has been battling a surging heroin problem.

And a story today reveals how a family found out about a heroin addiction too late, and how the addict hid the drug use from his loved ones.

He was a marijuana smoker before he began using heroin. His heroin use increased when he was expelled from school because of his pot smoking.

He was 17 years old.

This is a good story for parents to read and understand how a drug habit can explode into addiction that fast.

Teensavers reminds parents that there is a weapon they can use to detect this experimentation before it becomes an addiction.

Teensavers has a 5 panel home drug test, made specifically for families, that detects marijuana, cocaine, methamphetamine, opiates, and oxycontin.

A 7 panel catches those 5 drugs plus benzodiazepines and ecstasy.

A 12 panel catches those 7 drugs plus methadone, PCP, barbiturates, amphetamines, and tricyclic antidepressants.

All can help detect recreational use before it evolves into a full blown addiction.

Teensavers wanted to alert you to a heartbreaking story this morning in the Daily Herald that hopefully will open your eyes to the growing teen and young adult drug problem here in America.

Chelsea Laliberte’s reveals her struggle with her brother’s addiction, and it how it spiraled out of control until it took his life.

DON’T LOSE A CHILD THINKING THEY ARE DRUG FREE, OR ASSUMING THEY ARE ONLY USING ALCOHOL AND MARIJUANA. DEATH IS NOT A PLEASANT SURPRISE. CLICK HERE FOR THE TOTAL SOLUTION FOR YOUR FAMILY.

She made desperate pleas to her family that her brother Alex was using more than alcohol and marijuana. They didn’t listen.

Now she’s on a mission to alert parents about the growing heroin problem in the suburbs and how listening to siblings can make a big difference.

Siblings can be key in catching experimentation before it becomes addiction. There are many who won’t speak up, but the ones who do, should be listened to.

A recent study shows that alcohol is more of a gateway drug than marijuana, which is very troubling. Numerous teens drink and many parents dismiss it as a rite of passage.

But when drinking at 13 or 14, evolves into marijuana use at 14 and 15, teens often begin to get curious about other substances before they even graduate high school.

Parents need to have frequent conversations with their teens about all kinds of drugs, from alcohol and mairjuana, to cocaine and heroin. Kids are abusing pills, and once addicted to opiates, the often turn to heroin.

Some use amphetamines or methamphetamine to get that high, and others use club drugs like ecstasy, thinking it’s a safer alternative to alcohol.

Teensavers Home drug Tests can detect all of these substances up to 72 hours. Parents would be wise to keep one on hand.

It empowers teens to say no, when asked by their friends to do drugs.   40% say they try for the first time, because they didn’t know how to reject the peer pressure.

We are not even through the month of July yet and many parents are already starting to think about back to school supplies.

In fact recently, I noticed that 75% of the supplies had been purchased at my local big box retailer.

Some schools begin the first week of August, while others don’t go back until after Labor Day.

The typical list for moms and dads consists of pens, pencils, erasers, glue, markers, maybe even a protractor.

But there’s one item that parents may want to consider this summer as they prepare to start a new school year.

After all, parents are gearing up their kids for all of those “A” grades right?

So back to school shopping needs to go beyond what goes in the back pack.

That includes shoes, and clothing, eyeglasses, and it means even getting much needed daily medications filled like inhalers for kids that suffer from asthma.

One item that is also a good back to school product for parents to consider is a Teensavers Home Drug Test Kit.

Afterall, in addition to your children forgetting some basic math and history principles over the summer, they may also have experimented with drugs.

SAMHSA just released a study that revealed that June and July are the top two months where teens try drugs for the first time.

Year round, about 4,000 children try drugs for the first time every day. 2,500 of them are abusing pills.

Don’t send your child to school with a budding drug problem.

You send them in new clothes, new shoes, and with new supplies to start off a successful school year.

Why send them to school this 2012 with a hidden problem.

Detecting the experimentation could make the difference in that curiosity, becoming an addiction.

Start the school year right with Teensavers by your side.

It’s useless to buy and use a home drug test kit on your loved ones when you cannot trust the drug test kit’s accuracy.

The Teensavers Home Drug Test Kit is not only 99% accurate, but it is one of only four home drug test kits approved by the FDA for over-the-counter sales.

Here is why this is important?

-Ease of Use: The FDA only approves tests for OTC when those products give parents proper step by step instructions on how to administer the tests properly. Cheap tests found online or in dollar stores are messy and can be confusing to use, and confusing to read.

-Zero Tolerance Cutoff Levels: Cheap tests have drug levels that vary widely. Testing for drugs is difficult when the detection levels are so high, you’d have to be practically overdosing to register. For example, THC levels set by the government for testing are at 2,000 nanograms. Manufacturers are allowed a +/- 50% range, which means you could be testing your child for THC and the test you use is actually set at 3,000 nanograms. The Teensavers cutoff levels are the most strict. The cutoff level for THC in the Teensavers Home Drug Test Kit is 50 nanograms.

Accuracy: In addition to having very tolerant cutoff levels, imported home drug test kits can often give you a wide range of cutoff levels. Within the same batch, you might find THC levels ranging from cup to cup from 1,000 to 3,000. Each Teensavers Home Drug Test kit is 50 nanograms. There is no spectrum of tests. It’s correct science and the Teensavers Home Drug Test Kit is Made in America!

-The Next Step Towards a Solution: Cheap tests don’t provide you with the next step if your son or daughter’s drug test shows a presumptive positive. The Teensavers Home Drug Test Kit includes a free lab confirmation kit. You know which opiates your teen test positive for. You know how high the nanogram count is for each specific drug. And it will help you understand the next step for your child.

Beware of products that you find for cheap on eBay from sellers who can’t answer your questions. Watch out for online sites with a large inventory of different tests and products. You often find the same products selling cheap drug tests, also sell masking agents for people to hide their drug use. Don’t dive in for the cheap test at your neighborhood discount chain or dollar store. Those products are often close to expiration and typically cheap imported products.

Buying and using a home drug test kit can be a difficult decision for families.

No family wants to see a preliminary positive result, but if they do get one, they know they have a chance of correcting the problem before it is too late.

What good is getting a false negative? You don’t want to think that your teen is drug-free when they are using semi-regularly. That’s the important of buying a reliable and accurate product like the Teensavers Home Drug Test Kit.

Here are the cutoff levels and codes for drugs tested in a Teensavers 12-panel Home Drug Test Kit.

Marijuana (THC) 50 ng/mL

Cocaine (COC) 300 ng/mL

Amphetamine (AMP) 1000 ng/mL

Methamphetamine (MET) 1000 ng/mL

Opiates (OPI) 2000m ng/mL

PCP (PCP) 25 ng/mL

Barbiturates (BAR) 300 ng/mL

Benzodiazepines (BZO) 300 ng/mL

Methadone (MTD) 300ng/mL

Oxycodone (OXY) 100 ng/mL

Ecstasy (MDMA) 500 ng/mL

When you buy a home drug test kit, make sure you check the cutoff levels. The Teensavers Home Drug Test Kit cutoff levels are among the most strict on the market.

Zero tolerance means not “some drugs” in the system, but having “no drugs” in the system.

Oxycontin has been a widely abused drug for years, and while it helped millions deal with legitimate pain, many were abusing it.

It made headlines when Rush Limbaugh was found to have taken a liking to it.

Trying to take a new step towards safety, the manufacturers of the pill, Purdue Pharma, took steps to decrease the ability to abuse the drug.

Once able to be crushed into a liquid and injected, the compounds were made to turn gelatinous when crushed and placed into water.

Now, according to new research in the New England Journal of Medicine, more opiate addicts are skipping the oxycontin and seeking out heroin.

Researcher Theodore Cicero and his colleagues surveyed more than 2,500 painkiller addicts about their drug habits and found that there’s a shift in drug abuse.

DETECT OPIATE USE WITH A SINGLE 3 MINUTE TEST MADE SPECIFICALLY FOR FAMILIES. THE TEENSAVERS HOME DRUG TEST IS THE LATEST SCIENCE AVAILABLE AT YOUR LOCAL RITE AID AND ONLINE AT CVS.COM AND WALGREENS.COM.

OxyContin’s status as the primary drug of choice among opiate users decreased from 35.6% of respondents before the introduction of the new formula to 12.8% nearly two years later.

But with that solution on the oxycontin abuse, came another problem. Thousands of users turning to heroin.

66% of the abusers surveyed said that they just switched to another opiate.

When once upon a time you had people abusing oxycontin, they weren’t dying from the abuse. But heroin use is one of the leading causes of overdoses.

Purdue Pharma, in a statement to the Chicago Tribune, says the trend found by Cicero and his colleagues is consistent with studies conducted by the company, and suggests that to curb painkiller abuse, other companies should follow its example.

“It is unreasonable to expect the reformulation of one medication by one pharmaceutical company would reduce overall opioid abuse,” the company said in a statement.
