Teensavers wanted to alert you to a heartbreaking story this morning in the Daily Herald that hopefully will open your eyes to the growing teen and young adult drug problem here in America.

Chelsea Laliberte’s reveals her struggle with her brother’s addiction, and it how it spiraled out of control until it took his life.

DON’T LOSE A CHILD THINKING THEY ARE DRUG FREE, OR ASSUMING THEY ARE ONLY USING ALCOHOL AND MARIJUANA. DEATH IS NOT A PLEASANT SURPRISE. CLICK HERE FOR THE TOTAL SOLUTION FOR YOUR FAMILY.

She made desperate pleas to her family that her brother Alex was using more than alcohol and marijuana. They didn’t listen.

Now she’s on a mission to alert parents about the growing heroin problem in the suburbs and how listening to siblings can make a big difference.

Siblings can be key in catching experimentation before it becomes addiction. There are many who won’t speak up, but the ones who do, should be listened to.

A recent study shows that alcohol is more of a gateway drug than marijuana, which is very troubling. Numerous teens drink and many parents dismiss it as a rite of passage.

But when drinking at 13 or 14, evolves into marijuana use at 14 and 15, teens often begin to get curious about other substances before they even graduate high school.

Parents need to have frequent conversations with their teens about all kinds of drugs, from alcohol and mairjuana, to cocaine and heroin. Kids are abusing pills, and once addicted to opiates, the often turn to heroin.

Some use amphetamines or methamphetamine to get that high, and others use club drugs like ecstasy, thinking it’s a safer alternative to alcohol.

Teensavers Home drug Tests can detect all of these substances up to 72 hours. Parents would be wise to keep one on hand.

It empowers teens to say no, when asked by their friends to do drugs.   40% say they try for the first time, because they didn’t know how to reject the peer pressure.

When it comes to the health of your children, your family wants a home drug test kit you can trust.

After all, our kids mean everything to us.

The Teensavers is not only 99% accurate, but it is one of only four home drug test kits approved by the FDA for over-the-counter sales.

Why is this important?

-Ease of Use: The FDA only approves tests for OTC when those products give parents proper step by step instructions on how to administer the tests properly. Cheap tests found online or in dollar stores are messy and can be confusing to use, and confusing to read.

-Zero Tolerance Cutoff Levels: Cheap tests have drug levels that vary widely. Testing for drugs is difficult when the detection levels are so high, you’d have to be practically overdosing to register. For example, THC levels set by the government for testing are at 2,000 nanograms. Manufacturers are allowed a +/- 50% range, which means you could be testing your child for THC and the test you use is actually set at 3,000 nanograms. The Teensavers cutoff levels are the most strict. The cutoff level for THC in the Teensavers Home Drug Test Kit is 50 nanograms.

Accuracy: In addition to having very tolerant cutoff levels, imported home drug test kits can often give you a wide range of cutoff levels. Within the same batch, you might find THC levels ranging from cup to cup from 1,000 to 3,000. Each Teensavers Home Drug Test kit is 50 nanograms. There is no spectrum of tests. It’s correct science and the Teensavers Home Drug Test Kit is Made in America!

-The Next Step Towards Finding a Solution: Cheap tests don’t provide you with the next step if your son or daughter’s drug test shows a presumptive positive. The Teensavers Home Drug Test Kit includes a free lab confirmation kit. You know which opiates your teen test positive for. You know how high the nanogram count is for each specific drug. And it will help you understand the next step for your child.

Beware of products that you find for cheap on eBay from sellers who can’t answer your questions. Watch out for online sites with a large inventory of different tests and products. You often find the same products selling cheap drug tests, also sell masking agents for people to hide their drug use. Don’t dive in for the cheap test at your neighborhood discount chain or dollar store. Those products are often close to expiration and typically cheap imported products.

Buying and using a home drug test kit can be a difficult decision for your family.

No family wants to see a preliminary positive result, but if they do get one, they know they have a chance of correcting the problem before it is too late. This is key!

What good is getting a false negative? You don’t want to think that your teen is drug-free when they are using semi-regularly. That’s the important of buying a reliable and accurate product like the Teensavers Home Drug Test Kit.

Here are the cutoff levels and codes for drugs tested in a Teensavers 12-panel Home Drug Test Kit.

An apparent ecstasy related death of a jiu jitsu instructor in England has led to two more deaths.

But neither of the subsequent deaths a result of ecstasy use.

Roy Allison Sr. apparently decided he needed the man that he claimed was the drug dealer that sold his son Roy Jr. a fatal dose of ecstasy. “I believe it is right for me to rid this scum from the community,” he wrote in a letter to Peterborough Telegraph.

Detectives believe Allison Sr. stabbed Duncan Bell to death, then hung himself at the cemetery where his son was recently buried. Allison planned and carried out the murder, and documented the plan in a letter to the newspaper, police, and 13 other entities before killing himself.

Investigators still are not 100% sure that the younger Allison died of a drug overdose, and if he did, they haven’t identified the source of that drug.
But one relative tells the Daily Mail that Allison was an alcoholic and evil man.

Authorities say that the elder Allison never went to them with his belief or information that Bell may have supplied his son with ecstasy.

Teensavers encounter many who argue that drug testing is wrong. But it’s not the kids you hear the arguments from.

It’s the parents.

But more kids are abusing prescription drugs these days, and with more states legalizing marijuana for medicinal purposes, kids have more access to drugs than they ever have before.

The Teensavers Home Drug Test was created to alleviate some of the concerns that parents had when drug testing.

1. Catching experimentation before you see the physical signs. Parents who argue against home drug testing will say “I can tell if my kid is on drugs.” The truth is, drug experimentation typically isn’t caught with the naked eye. Early use usually will leave little indication. You won’t see an immediate slip in grades. You won’t all of the sudden see your child change friends overnight. By the time you typically notice, you’re already addicted. A quick screen can reveal if your child has some sort of narcotic in their system. Maybe they’ve been taking a Xanax from your medicine cabinet.

2. By testing your child privately, a preliminary positive result can keep your problem in the family without school or law enforcement getting involved. You also can be in the room and give it at your discretion, eliminating most of the popular cheats. When you give your child a random drug test, you can do it at 3am or 3pm. They won’t know when it’s coming. When kids try to cheat home drug tests, they usually know when and where the test will happen (at the doctor’s on Monday at noon), and that can allow them to take measures. When you get your child out of bed at 6AM on a Saturday morning, he or she doesn’t have time to drink a special masking agent or get substitute urine. And temperature strips on Teensavers Home Drug Test Kits that you bought online from CVS online pharmacy will show if the urine will catch cheat urine that isn’t body temperature.

3. Free Lab Confirmation gives you specific answers. Many drug tests will give you preliminary answers with little more information. The Teensavers Home Drug Test Kit sold at the drugstore.com provides families with free lab confirmations for all preliminary positive results. You will have the specific nanograms which can help you understand the amount of drugs in a person’s system.

4. Simple to Use. Simple to Read. Many times you have cups where you have to handle urine and dip strips into the urine. Or you may have to shake a cup that explodes all over you. The Teensavers Home Drug Test Kit you may have bought at amazon.com is simple to use and read. Two lines is a negative. One line is a preliminary positive. All you have to do is peel back the label and read. No shaking. No tilting. No dipping. No touching urine. Lock the lid and wait for the results to appear. If the parental guide doesn’t give you enough information, there’s always a Teensavers representative a phone call away 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

5. Catch the drug use immediately. Drugs can stay in the system for up to 72 hours. Kids are more likely to use on the weekend, but parents can always test them on a Sunday, Wednesday and Friday to make sure their teen is clean for the entire week. And when you have the test at home, you give it the hour of the day you want. That can be a big bonus. If your teen comes home on a Tuesday night with glass eyes, you can pull out your Teensavers Home Drug Test Kit you bought at Rite Aid and test them.

6. Potentially Lifesaving Protection for a modest price. Rehabs and treatment facilities can cost anywhere from $20,000 to $100,000. And that’s one treatment session. Many treatment experts believe that detection and treatment at an early age (13,14) can be extremely beneficial in preventing relapse. Conversely, detecting a problem in the late teen years (18,19) treatment is more difficult as those teens typically are stubborn and passionate about their drug use, and have developed close friends and relationships with people who are likely also users. $20 to $40 for a reliable and FDA approved for OTC sales drug test like the Teensavers Home Drug Test Kit (www.myteensavers.com) can end up saving hundreds of thousands of dollars in the long run.

7. Home drug testing can empower your teen and put his or her friends on alert that your home is a drug free home. There’s no mistake when you set the Teensavers Home Drug Test Kit on the counter. It means you are serious about being a drug free family. It also provides your teen with a weapon to say “I can’t try that, my parents test me.” Think your teen doesn’t need that? Think again. 40% of teens in a recent survey said that it is extremely difficult to withstand the peer pressure when it comes to drugs. Arming your teen with visible proof that you will drug test them, provides them with the extra reinforcement to say no. Their friends will notice too. And if your child’s best friend smokes marijuana, that child may be hesitant to mention it to your child, since they’ve seen the Teensavers Home Drug Test Kit on the counter.

8. Catch drug use of all illicit drugs, including prescription drugs. Your child may be honest with you about trying pot. That could be their way of skirting a drug test if they admit to have inhaled. However, what they may tell you, may be to conceal other drug use. Of the 4,000 new drug using teens every day, 2,500 of them abuse prescription drugs for the first time. Their are taking Xanax and Percocet and Oxycontin. Teensavers Home Drug Test Kits can scan for opiate, benzodiazepine, barbiturates, and both amphetamines, and methamphetamine.

Reliability is key when home drug testing.

Teensavers is constantly reminding families about drug use and how teen abuse can tear a family apart. Here is a story out of Charlotte that is a tragic reminder.

A violent encounter between a 20-year old man and his 63 year-old father left the son lying dead beneath a tree with a gunshot to the chest and the father behind bars on murder charges.

Authorities are trying to sort out what led up to the deadly shooting. The elder man, Earnest Gurley called 9-1-1 before 9:00a, telling operators that he had just shot his son.

Another family member told the Charlotte Observer that the two had a long run fights and disagreements about drugs and thefts. The relative revealed that Benjamin Gurley had a drug problem that was worse than marijuana.

If this latest and deadliest encounter was drug related, it shows how the drug use by the younger Gurley destroyed two lives and damaged several others.

This is a common scenario when teens begin abusing drugs. When they cannot afford the drugs but are addicted, they resort to stealing from family and friends. Drug addicts will steal anything from anybody if they can use the property for their next high.

Parents need to have frequent conversations with their children about the dangers of drugs. Drug use can destroy a family, whether it’s a teen chronic marijuana smoker or a parent abusing prescription drugs.

Families need to unite and make it a mission to be a drug free family.

How familiar are you with the bath salts craze?

The number of bath salts related illnesses treated in the emergency room has skyrocketed from 300 in 2010 to more than 6000 in 2011.

The data comes from the American Association of Poison Control Centers.

Many people have only recently heard of the synthetic drugs after the Causeway Cannibal attack.

The drug is traditionally made from a combination of of three drugs – Mephedrone, 3,4 methylenedioxypyrovalerone (MDPV) and Methylone.

Users of bath salts, which can be injected, snorted, inhaled or swallowed, oftentimes report sever paranoia, hallucinations, psychosis, violence and a lack of physical pain.

Temporary bans have been created to stop the sale of the products, but chemists are altering the chemical compounds to continue to sell the materials.

However, whenever any of the drugs in the mixture becomes outlawed in a state or by the federal government, producers simply replace said chemical with a similar one.

Christopher Steil, 17, a junior at Minnechaug Regional High in Wilbraham, MA, says that drugs are everywhere.

He tells Masslive.com that the amount of drugs available to kids there is unbelievable, and that students can score marijuana, cocaine, LSD, and ecstasy.

Steil says that the drugs are sold in parks and bathrooms on campus, and that kids know to keep drugs out of their lockers and cars, instead carrying them in their pockets and backpacks.

One quote that was telling was that Steil says prior to attending Minnechaug Regional in 09, he had not heard of half the drugs being sold on campus. Now he says, “I am surrounded by them.”

School officials dispute Steil’s claims, and other students say that the drug problem at that campus is no different than drug issues at other schools.
