The Los Angeles Times reports that Rodney King died in an accidental drowning, but that the troubled historical figure had large amounts of drugs and alcohol in his system.
King, whose violent arrest in 1991, was a central element in the L.A. riots.
The avid swimmer drowned in the pool at his Rialto home after slipping into a “state of drug and alcohol-induced delirium,” according to a coroner report.
Along with alcohol, toxicology tests found traces of marijuana, PCP and cocaine.
King had a long battle with drugs and alcohol. He tried numerous time to find a cure for his disease, even appearing on Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew.
